Whole House Fan Motor

I installed an Air Vent whole house fan a few years ago that I got at Lowes, and it seems the motor is shot. Although a GE motor that was made in Mexico, I haven't been able to find a replacement anywhere, Lowes, Graingers or on-line. I did find a Broan #99080214 tonite, that looks like it might fit. The Broan has the same dia case, 5 &5/8, shaft and cw rotation and rpm is similar, 700/500, compared to original of 775/600. Only other option is to get another fan assy. I believe the broan is a better motor as it has ball brgs, compared to bushings in orig. Anybody have experience with this ?

When you checked Granger did you check there on line cross referance guide?
Can you take a picture of the ID plate on the motor and post it here?
Should not be that hard to find one if we have the info.

You had said that it is an AirVent product. If it is, try www.airvent.com

When I went to Graingers, they couldn't cross ref the motor with anything. Biggest problem seemed to be the slow RPM, 775/600. I will try taking a pix and posting it . I might try calling Air Vent tomorrow. Their warranty says to send them the old motor so they can evaluate it, before sending a replacement. I just wanted it repaired now, not in a month or so.

Bob22, the 2 motors on that page with less then 1000rpm, #2FGP6 is only 1 sp & #4UY50 is 208-230 V.

Whole House Fan Motor

I called Air Vent this morning, and although their their website and the warranty info in my installation book says I must return the motor for evaluation first, the girl I spoke with said they'd send me out a replacement motor . I never, ever expected it to be that easy in this day and age !

Whole House Fan Motor

Just received the replacement motor from air vent and I have 1 question regarding the wiring. They sent a new capacitor with the new motor, and the wires and capacitor are the same as the old motor. I have to wire the new capacitor in, and the wires are both identical brown to the capacitor and the capac. terminals are not marked, so I assume the 2 brn wires could go to either term on the capacitor. Correct ?
