whole house fan?


Just wanted to confirm is this a whole house fan unit on the roof?

No; that is the condenser portion of a "split system".

A whole house fan is (usually) mounted in the ceiling of an upstairs hallway with the output blowing into the attic. Some will be roof mounted with duct work to that hallway ceiling.

We had one of the first kind in the house where I grew up (no AC until 1967).
It did a pretty good job too aside from the noise.
(sounded like a B52 on takeoff when it first started)

This one is mild in comparison:

Just let you know you need really keep up service on that. Mostly keeping coils clean. Dirty outdoor coil can gave you a lot of problems.

No that is not a condensing unit, it is a Carrier gas pack. Furnace and a/c all in one.
