Whirlpool Central Air?

I am currently looking into installing a Central A/C system in my home. One of the brands that one contractor is suggesting I install is the Whirlpool Gold Central A/C. I would appreciate your thoughts on whether or not its worth buying this system in reliablility, cost, etc, compared to other brands such as Carrier, Trane, etc.
Thanks!

Most if not all systems of today are good and most of the manufacturing technics and componets are the same. However there is a lot of differences in marketing technics. The HVAC companies do not make the compresssor, switches, relays, fans, etc. that they use, they buy them. The MOST IMPORTANT thing about the new system is the installation, period. IF installed correctly it will be a good system for you. In the case of HVAC, price does not guarantee you a good system.

If your thinking of a new ca unit. I will get one with a excellent energy star rating. You might pay a little more for it. But when that electric bill shows up you will be happy.

Also wouldn't hurt to check Consumer Reports on maintenance issues and reliability issues with the major brands...
