What is a good Air filter for the home?

I am using those cheap generic white filters from lowes and see dust all over my electronics. I replace them every 21-30 days and lately see alot of dust. What is a good filter for the home to use in place of these cheap flters?

Thanks

True blue Merv7 from HDepot or a Merv 8.

Atleast Merv 8 in the summer.
A wet A/C coil has the same filtering effect as a MERV 8. So you are better off having a filter that matches or exceeds that in the cooling season.

Do I have to change these filters monthly as well?

Another thought;

A furnace filter is only going to clean whatever air goes through it. If you have excessive dust then the problem is more than likely infiltration into your house. When we do blower door tests the leakage into the house is where most of the dust is comming from. Your attic needs to be sealed from the house to solve this problem.

Most likely. How often any air filter needs changed, always depends on the home its in.
