what is going on with my ac?

My ac went out three weeks ago, tech came out and installed a capacitor. I don't think it would make a difference but it was a 35/5 dual load and he used a single 35 and a 7.5 wired together as a replacement. It came on, worked fine for a few days, then one day about 4 in the afternoon I heard a screeching sound coming from my ac. Went outside and the condensor fan had stopped but the unit was still running. I switched off the breaker and switched it back on and it fired up and ran fine for 3 days, then did it again. All of the days it has done this it was about 90+ outside. I am on disability so I don't have the money for a tech and am mechanically inclined but this is my first go round with an ac. It may be worth noting it is a package system heat pump/ac. About 8 years old.

you can't use a 35 and a 7.5 to replace a 35/5. you can use a 35 and a 5. If this is not a typo than call them back. If this is what they did you should not be charged as it was not fixed properly.

Hey, if I just get a 35/5 dual load and install it, would that fix it or do you think I would need a new motor

that would be the first step. The motor will tell you if it ok by not giving you any more problems if so.
