Weathermaker 9000 Carrier Code 31 problems HELP!! Its cold

Ok lets start by saying I am a single 27 yr. old female so make it simple! I have a Carrier 9000. So yesterday turned on the heat and only cold air was coming out of the vents. Then today the furnace wouldnt stay on. So I did the reset a couple times, and nothing. The code is reading 31. Well after 3 hours of investigating I found the rubber hose coming from what I think is the heat exchanger was disconnected. So I used a hose clamp and reconnected it. Then did a reset and also reset the ignitor box. Now it runs for a short time and shuts off. Do I need to reset something else. The air that is coming out is cool. The outside pipes one is blowing and one is sucking. Any suggestions?? Cold!!

The pressure switch is either stuck open or closed.
This could be a bad switch.
A crack in the hose.
A restriction in the intake or exhaust pipe.
A bad inducer.
A cracked trap.
Moisture in the switch, or hose.

Thank you so much for your advice. I found a crack in the black hose that is supposed to be to the drain resevoir so I duct taped it till I can replace the hose. Then it was giving me cod 31 again so I reset the furnace again to see if that is the problem. Nope still no heat. Then 4 hours later could that be?? Sure enough heat coming full blast. Do you think that I should replace the pressure switch anyways?

"If you can't duct it....f*&^ it."

I would check the condensate trap itself, might be plugged up, causing condensation to back up into the collector box and into your presure switch.

Do you think that it backed up and is still wet? How would I dry it out? Because it ran for approx. 2 hours then shut off and again is flashing code 31. I completely disconnected the resevior box to see if it was acutally draining. Does one of the hoses have to be plugged? The reservior box is the thing on the outside of the actual furnace that drains to the sewer right? Thank you so much for your help. I am learning..

I blew in the hose going to the burner compartment and thick brown sludge came out of the compartment trap. I think that it is clogged. I am gonna try to take it to gas station and blow it out. Otherwise I think it may have shorted out the pressure switch. Is that common if it is backed up?

I would say your trap is the problem, just flush it out in the sink several times it should take care of your problem. Also take your hoses to a auto parts store and have them help you with the sizing and so you can replace them.
