Weather Maker 8000 2 Spd Problem

Hello...

I having problems with my weather maker 8000 heater unit which has been in this home for as long as we've lived in it (5 years) and unit shows flashing red lights of code 45 (replace control). What control is this referring to and can I replace this myself? thanks!

Weather Maker 8000 2 Spd Problem

I would image they mean the furnace control, the electronic board that controls the different functions of the furnace. I have a Weather Maker 8000, model 58DLA. There is no code 45 on the trouble shooting flow diagram. However, "replace furnace control" is the last item on the check list and one only get there after all preceeding test have been successfully passed.

What is the specific model number of your Weather Maker 8000? Do you have any documentation on it (users manual or guide, service and maintenance manual, etc.)?

Weather Maker 8000 2 Spd Problem

Hope that helped you, Hodgepiper. I went to the Carrier web site and found three documents for the 58TMA Weather Maker furnace (See link below). The docs are not as detailed as the ones I found for my furnace but it does verify, to my satisfaction, that the control that is to be replaced is the "furnace control". It can be identified by the red (maybe yellow) LED that it resides on. Also on the furnace control you should find an automotive type fuse.

If you decide to replace it yourself, make sure you label all the wires in such a way you will know where to put them on the new control board.

Good luck!
