i bought a home recently and had the gas turned on yesterday. the water heater was on about 2 hours and i noticed the water wasnt very hot. then i noticed the relief valve pipe that runs to the outside was gushing hot water. i've read some of the posts in here and i believe its a pressure issue? are there any simple things i can do to fix this before i spend money and have somebody come out and look at it? thanks.
If you have a pipe wrench, some time and about $25.00. You can do this project without a great deal of trouble. You will need to replace it with the exact same rated piece. If you can take it with you to the hardware store, they can make sure you get the proper one.
