Warmer Upstairs with NEW Aircon

Hello:
my old central aircon broke down but it was working extremely well cooling the upstairs and downstairs. I replaced it with the New Carrier 58MVB
2-stage Furnace and 21-SEER 2-stage Central Aricon and the SYSTX Infinity Thermostat in Nov/2007. The heating was extremely good in the winter with the 2-stage furnace working well. Now that the summer is here, The cooling has become a bit of a challenge. The 1st floor cools very well but the 2nd floor remains warmer(it does not cool like the old aricon). I played around with the Infinty thermostat and did the following:
cycles-per-hr set to 6 instead of 4, ambient set to 1,
ac airflow set to comfort, dehum airflow set to normal
staging set to system, fan set to AUTO, dehumidification set to ON,
dehundification percent set to 56%
low ambient cooling set to NO (what does this do? should it be YES?)
high cool latch set to none
temperature set to 72 during the day and 67 at night

I have closed the 2-registers on the 1st floor and it is now bearable upstairs but nowhere near like the old aricon....any ideas on what could be the problem???..it is around 90 degrees outside

Since hot air rises, in my non professional experience, in the winter the lower level will needs more volume, and in the summer the 2nd floor will need more volume.

When you replaced the units did they replace any of the duct work? Balancers, damper, etc.

It is nice to be able to change these from season to season.
