Walls around HVAC

I am building a house in a subdivision that requires a wall taller than the HVAC unit be built on the roof to conceal the HVAC unit from the front street view. (Southwestern syled house, flat roof, with parapet walls.) At least one side of the wall will be completely open and there is no top. I have two HVAC units going up. (2 ton and 4 ton) One will have a 3-sided wall, the other a 2-sided wall. The walls are 5 feet tall in order to conceal the Carrier units. How much space should be between the wall and the unit? (Has anyone ever heard of having to put walls on your roof?)

Best check with Carrier. They will give you exact clearances required. Most likely got a pdf on their site someplace with all the info.
