Wall Furnace change-out

I have a 1080 sf 3 bdrm 1 1/2 ba hse blt in 1955 in Southern Calif.
I had the dual wall floor frunace replaced with a dual wall 50,000 BTU Wialliams frunace. Didn't have it inspected but the plumbing contractor told me he installed it per code.

When I looked at the installation instructions it says there should be at least 4 ft. clearance form the face panel to any object. One side of my furnace is in a hallway and the hall width between the frunace face panel and a linen closset directly accross from it is 2 ft 10 inches.

Anybody know what the California Building code is for this situation? Now I'm concerned that it may not be installed per code. But I don't know where else it could be installed and it was replacing an old floor frunace with wall panels that rose about 2 ft, one either side of the wall.

Thank youfor any replies.

Hi Calhoun

I am not sure of the mechanical codes for Califonia, you guys have to deal with some really silly stuff. Here is a website that might give you some insight to your question.
