Walk In Freezer - Nothing Comes On - Need Help

And meanwhile you're, what, a week without the freezer? Is there really savings to be had here? If this were just my freezer at home I'd be inclined to figure it out. But if my work depended upon it (and the health of my customers) I can't see dragging it out for days just to avoid paying a pro to 'just fix it'.

I second the fuse wearing out note. Like anything else they can fail over time. Always be prepared to replace them, twice. Once to figure out that it actually WAS something else, and the second time after you fix the actually broken parts. The money you'd spend on buying several extras is likely a lot less than the time wasted running back/forth to get more...

I do have more than one freezer. It was the fuse. I feel dumb for not pulling them out and checking them first but I figured since I had voltage on both ends of the fuse, they were good and the problem was elsewhere. I REALLY appreciate this site and those of you that helped constructively. With restaurants these days, I have to try and save money whenever possible.

If you had voltage at both end of the fuse
Then your fuse should be good.

So, to measure 220, you simply place the black probe on one feed, and the red probe on the other feed of the double pole breaker?

Thanks to all of you.

Yes that's correct. But always remember, just because your meter reads zero doesn't meant it isn't hot.

ryandeen..just to clarify..I said that if you checked with a meter from one end of the fuse to the other end of the same fuse you should get zero volts and that means the fuse is good..if you get 120 volts then the fuse has blown resulting in a reading across it from end to end..in other words hot to ground..hope you understand..if not then get someone to explain it further

you will NOT get a reading from one end of a cartridge fuse to the other end if it is good because it's just like baring a hot wire and measuring at two locations along it's length
