very old gas furnace won't turn on -- WE'RE FREEZING!

I have an International Heater from the 50's in my home that won't turn on this morning. I jumped the thermostat wires at the stat and that didn't work, the pilot is on, the breaker is on, the emergency shut off is on, I can manually turn the fan on, but I can't get the heat on. Any ideas on where to start?

Look for a reset button. Usually red. Sounds like a upper limit switch opened. Check filter if it resets

I don't see any reset button. I'm looking for my multimeter so I can check the voltage at the valve. If the pilot is lit, as it is, do I need to check the thermocoupler or would that not be an issue since the pilot is lit?

In your picture. The white button/ switch. Is that a reset. Look up into the hood , see if reset is there. Gas valve should be getting the 24 volts. Open circuit somewhere.

thanks semore, that white button is the manual switch for the fan. the fan works when I turn that. I checked the gas valve and it is not getting any voltage. Where do I go from there?

Do you see the wiring diagram. Look for a upper limit switch. You looked in the hood? Follow the wires from the gas valve, look for any resets.

Looks like an in-line fuse coming off from the transformer on the red wire. If it is a fuse, check to see if it is burned. When you find your meter check the transformer for 24 volts.:)

Thanks for everyone's reply. I re-tested everything, and it turns out the Thermostat IS faulty. I don't know why it didn't turn on the first time I tried jumping it, but it did now. Off to the store to get a new one. Thanks again for your help.

That is an oil converted to gas furnace. I t has no resettable limits.

The white button is for continuous fan and is part of the fan limit control.

Not a fuse. Just an insulated fork terminal.
