Venting over the range convection oven question

Hi everyone. Just a quick question regarding the proper way to vent an over the range convection/microwave oven. I am actually pretty sure this is an extremely dumb question but i have to ask to put my mind at ease so im not worried about my family while im at work. I will be venting the oven with rigid 6" round duct. I plan on running this into the attic above the kitchen and then routing it to the nearby sofit. My dumb question is, are there any concerns about this vent pipe being in contact with insulation? I was not sure if this exhaust duct would be capable of creating any kind of fire hazard. My apologies about the question and thank you all in advance for any advice.

Venting over the range convection oven question

It needs to be vented out the roof not the soffit.
You can use fire block expanding foam or caulking to seal where it goes through the sheetrock.
Only time it would be a fire hazard is if the stove was on fire.

It would be fine going out the soffit if there is room. Make sure its insulated. The pipe is fine laying on the insulation.

Venting over the range convection oven question

Thank you very much for the reply hvac122. I really appreciate it. what are you referring to when you say "make sure it is insulated"? Does the exhaust need to be double walled pipe or will the normal ducting that you would use to run a standard hvac supply line be OK? Thanks again

Single wall pipe is fine. It needs to be wrapped or sleeved with r8 duct insulation if not in a conditioned space.
