Variable Speed Air HAndler

I just got a new HVAC unit installed and my thermostat is jumping up and down in temperature. So far it has been on for about 6 hrs turning off about three times and quickly turning back on. Is this normal for a new system, is the thermostat not functionin correctly, not enough refrigerant or a bad installation? Also, what is the difference between stage 1 and 2 on the air handler? One more thing, what percentage should the fan be in?

Have your installer check the stat set up. He should have explained all that to you. Did he install a new thermostat?\\

Run time is with in the ball park having just started up.
