VAC books

Currently trying to finish my basement and need to run some duct for heat as well as cold air returns. Although I know enough to be dangerous, are there any books out there that you fella's would recommend? I would like to get a good general understanding on how furnaces and AC's work as well as the correct way to run duct. TIA!

So your gonna read for several month, and then do your basement.

Don't use your existing trunk line. Run a separate trunk line for the basement.

ACCA Manuals Q and D would aid in duct design.
