UV light for HVAC system

When wiring a UV light to the contacts of the fan so the uv only comes on while the fan cycles, will the UV light be less efficient and is there a warm up period for the UV light or is it a full illumination as soon as you give power to it.
Any help would be appreciated

no warm up required.. does little when fan not running...uv light must only be on when fan is running.....

I thought UV lights primarily prevented mold from growing on the coil (vs doing anything to the air which is moving across them). If that's the case, I guess it is just a question of whether you want the light on all the time (?)

They're for overall air purification (of bacteria). Some do question their effectiveness and that's probably a whole other debate, but for the ease of install and low cost, it does not hurt anything.
