Utility Room Help
First of all pardon my ignorance when it comes to all this stuff, I am not very knowledgeable on all this stuff which is why I came to this site for some help! Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help me out.
This is my first house and I am in over my head with this utility room. The house has in floor heat in the garage and the basement. So i know a lot of these pipes and gauges are for that purpose.
First question, I live in MN where the winters get very cold. I really do not have any need for in floor heat in my garage so I dont plan on using it very often. Is there any sort of maintence I need to perform on this to prevent it from freezing? I am assuming it has antifreeze in it, do I need to run this once a year to flush it out, or any tips for the in floor heat?
Also a lot of the copper pipes are oxidizing and some also look almost burnt, I have attached some pictures.. wonder if this is a concern?
Final questoin is some of the pipes seams also seem burnt or have some gunk in them... anything I should do about this?
Again any help would be great, if you have anything else to add I would appreciate it.
Corrosion from water leaks. Probably from leaking during the first summer or 2 when the water temp was low. Or from the first times it was turned on and the return water temps were very cold.
If they leak now, they should be fixed, as it allows air to enter the system every time water has to be added. You might want the system check to make sure it does have glycol in it. if your not going to heat the garage. And to make sure the PH is balanced. or it will eat the pipes from the inside out.
