I need your opinion. I bought a home built in the late 50's. The home is a split level and is a little over 2000sq. ft. The lennox(sp) outdoor central air unit looks like it is from the 80's at the latest. The fan is loud and it was very expensive to operate last summer. My relative has a used unit that was manufactured in 1996. RHEEM MODEL RAKA024JAZ SEER 10 SINGLE PHASE. Would you replace the existing unit with the used unit? I have to check to make sure they are the same size as far as tons.

10 seer ? i wouldnt bother the seer is upto 13 seer on new equipment now and you wouldnt notice much if any difference and i believe that model number is a 2 ton unit , a 2000 sq. should likly have at least a 3 ton or more depending on the layout number of outlets, size of return and other specs, not to mention you should probably replace the airhandler and condenser together.

Yeah, that would be a two ton unit according to the model number. Two tons is good for approximately 1200 Sq. Ft.

I agree with the above, it would not be worth it anyways being 10 seer.
