Upgrade to Two Zone Heat?

New home about 3100 square feet with a Trane Heater TUY120R9V5W ( 92% eff.) 2 stage variable speed propane furnace.

Does it make sense to upgrade to a 2 zone system? Can it be added to our existing Trane, which is brand new (Aug 2007)? How about estimated cost? I assume that new duct work will not be needed. I'm only thinking of heat, not AC

It would have made more sense before you installed the new heating unit. To get true multi-zone heat from a forced air system, the best method is to install multiple furnaces. You could add dampers to close down branches of duct but that air handler to work harder, it also drives efficiency of the furnace down as well.

I tear things down and build them up.
