I'm having a problem that i've never encountered with my Trane heat pump outside unit

I came home from the dr. today only for my wife to inform me that my Trane outside unit was making a noise

I thought the fan was hitting something but after removing the side cover,I saw the points chattering on the 24 volt coil

I breifly held those points in,at that time I also heard the coil on the reverseing valve making a noise also,otherwise the unit works fine ,I turned it on to cool the house a couple of times,luckily its dowm around 60 here now

You have 5 posts now, you should be able to post some pics of your trane with the cover off so the hvac techs can look at what you have. Thanks.

If the contactor is chattering, and left to continue. It will cause the compressor and fan to die an early death.

Trace out cause of low voltage problem and correct it.
