two discharge lines on compressor?

Hey guys,

Had a question on a replacement a/c compressor--it's a two and three quarter ton copeland reciprocating compressor. I'm confused on the discharge lines though--it's got a three quarter inch suction fitting near the top but also a smaller three eigths fitting next to it along with a three eigths discharge fitting near the bottom. I assume the three eigths fitting near the top is an additional discharge fitting?!?

thanks

The 3/8 fitting on the bottom is the discharge, the top 3/8 fitting is actualy a suction access. Braze a schreader type fitting on it or. just braze it closed.
