Question

trouble with my gas furnance

I came home from vacation yesterday and my downstairs furnace is not working. I cross the red and white wires on the thermostat but it only kicks it on for about 30 seconds, and it doesn't restart it at all. I thought it was the thermostat but now I think it might be the flame sensor or something called a proving switch. Does anyone have any ideas?

Clean the flame sensor.....if the gas valve is opening and the igniter light the gas burners.

Furnace has a L.E.D on the control board that will give you a fail code that will match up with the furnaces fault codes... find that and start from there

if you have a "proving switch" then you have an induced draft fan motor above the burner section...that should be the first item to run on a heat call..free spin the squirrel
