Question

Trane XR90 Blown Control board!

Hey there guys, I am need some Info. I have notice that my Control board has blown out on me. I woke up one morning and smelt some burns components. When and Check and notice it was my control board part # 50A65-475 White-Rodgers Intell-Ignition? So I am not sure what caused this too blow out? So I am bit neverous about put in a new board to have that one fry out too? I noticed it seem to be on the main fan as it doesn't want too start? but the Fan will spin freely? Is there anything else I can or should check or change for I Install this?

The only thing you can do is take a chance that it was a bad board.
If you replace the board and then discover there is another reason for the bad board well you will have to get a third board.
I think at this point it would be wise for you to call a trane dealer. If he burns a new board,he has to get and pay for a new one.

Boards sometimes just blow, I replace them all the time.

You need to ground yourself against the metal cabinet of the furnace prior to handling the new board (static electricity) and try your best to only handle it by the edges.

slow this trane down...yes it was a pun!!!

what blew on the board????? was it a connector?? was it an IC chip???? was it a resistor??? maybe the 24volt transformer cooked...

a picture or two of the board would really help everyone here figure out what happened.... Then you can make a better judgement on what to replace.

thanks in advance.

Look on the back of the board for any burn marks. Usually it'll be a solder connection gone bad and the electricity jumps, sometimes to the panel behind or under the board, leaving a burn mark on both.
