Trane XR13 help

Hello,

I got a Trane XR13 AC compressor installed in June 2007. The unit will not come on now..either the Compressor nor fan will run. No humming sound.

I checked the circuit breaker and its fine.

I tested the Run Capacitor with my multimeter and got 5uf on the fan side...38uf on the HERM side. The capacitor rating is 5uf/40uf.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Do you have 240 volts at the contactor? Have 24 volts going out to the unit? High pressure switch tripped?

Trane XR13 help

I was able to resolve the issue. Wasn't getting 240V on the contactor. The panel at the side of the house had a blown 20A fuse in the box where the power was coming out of the house to the outdoor unit. Replaced the fuse and compressor/fan works fine.

Use "time delay" fuses and not the general purpose cheaper ones. Those are for lights etc. Motors need time delay fuses. Usually about $3-5 apiece but worth it.
