Trane XL80 model TUD

My 20 year old Trane XL80 model TUD stopped working. I turned it off, then back on. The upper motor starts. 15 seconds later, I hear clicking from the pressure switch, then what I believe to be gas flowing for 3-5 seconds. The upper motor continues to run for a a minute, then stops. There is no visible flame. I checked the tubing to the pressure switch. It's OK. The red light in the lower portion of the unit flashes quickly, and steadily. Help, please.

HSI hot surface igniter is burnt out/cracked. May want to get a Pro to change it as they are VERY delicate and tricky to install. May look like this one. There are up to 12 different variations of them.

Thanks!

Yuri- Is this common? Where is it located? I'm pretty handy, and short on cash...

Yuri- I found it. Is there any way to test it?

Very common. Sits in front of one of the burners. Should have between 35-70 ohms resistance on those 2 wires. Use alligator clips from the meter leads to the wires or the meter will read your body resistance. Usually it has a bright white spot where it burnt out. If higher than 70 or O.L.( open line) then it is shot.

If you take the task to replace it try not to touch with fingers oil from hand can cause hot spots latex gloves will help very easy to break
