Trane XE 1000
Today Inoticed warm air blowing, so i looked a the outside airconditioner and noticed the fam would run a minute or 2 and then stop. Took it apart cleaned the coils with sray cleaner from lowes and oiled the fan. Looked at the capacitor and it looks good no buldge, put it back together and tried it again and again it stopped. Is it just a bad fan motor?

hvactech126 07-28-2012 04:37 PM

most likely it is a failing motor.

Its most likely the motor, but I have had bad caps right out of the box. Also take a quick look at the contactor to make sure you don't have a crispy contact on that.

1/4 HP, 200-230/60/1, 825 RPM, CCW, 48 FRAME, FLA 1.9, LRA 3.65, TYPE PSC, SLEEVE, 7.5 MFD CPT @ 370V. THIS MOTOR IS AN EMERSON MTR

In regard to the two motors you indicated: You should NOT use either of those motors to replace the one in your system. Those are 1075 RPM motors and they will not work correctly in your system. If you're not sure which motor you should be using, then the best thing you can do is call a contractor to replace it for you, or purchase one through a Trane distributor if they'll sell you one.
