Totaline wireless thermostat not showing the correct temperature and system not cooling upper floors

We have a totaline wireless thermostat. Now that it is getting hot out, and the air conditioning should be coming on, we are suddenly having problems. The thermostat says it is 68 degrees when it is obviously hotter. So the air is not running. If I adjust the termperature setting or mode, then it will suddenly register that it is hotter and turn on the air. But it does not maintain it, eventually starts showing that it is cooler than it actually is, and turns off. Again does not show the rise in temperature. Plus, the system is not cooling the upper floors. Don't know if the problem is with the thermostat, the blower, or something else.

That is the nature of the beast with two story homes. Unless the system is zoned & sized properly for the structure, which most are not, you are going to have problems. Have you had a Manual J or Manual D done on the system? Also, where do you live, what is the heat gain like on the structure (in other words, how much direct sunshine). Even though you may have shades or drapes closed, direct sun will still heat up the home.

We went through and used UV film on all of our windows, and it has cut the heat gain down at least 65%, which allows our home to stay cooler. Also had a attic ventilator installed to help keep the heat gain down in the attic. Both together have helped to keep our cooling costs down.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?

Just a thought its wireless take it up stairs and see if that doesn't help. If it cold downstairs you may want to add a return upstairs. Also try running the fan in the on position to move the air more this van help if tje return is upstairs. Or spend the 5k and get a zone control installed by a pro this is not a weekend deal you cam affect unit operation and end up with bad results.
