time delay relay

how do i by-pass time delay relay

Why would you want to do that. What kind of system and delay are we talking about.

if it has 2 low voltage wires with the TD cut into inline jump them or remove them and wire nut them together..if you have more then 2 wires with 3 terminals need more info on what is it for

If this is for the compressor I would opt to leave it in. The time delay will help protect the compressor during brown-outs.

my suggestion is only for if its not working if you jump it to see if the compressor comes on from a call from the stat...hope your talking TD and not an uverload KLIXON mounted in the terminal box cover of the compressor

most modern a/c systems have td relays built into the t-stat to stop short cycling...jumping it/eliminating it from the circuit would be ok in this instance as it would be redundant to leave it in.

however if you have the old t87f the "round" t-stat or equivalent jump it to see if the sys. Contactor pulls in...if so the control is n/g and should be replaced....provided that you waited the predetermined time usually 5mins. When initially waiting for the sys. To run.

hope this helps..

that "klixon" mounted overload, what is that one used for? bigger compressors?

Master of Cold 08-11-2011 09:19 PM

Tandem compressors will use a klixon type overload that is wired into the control circuit to disable both compressors in the event of a fault with one. You cant take them out though.
