Thermostat wiring HELP

ok i am in need of some help. i had an old t-stat that was swaped out. owner didnt wire it right. only the a/c worked..... when i wired the colors to the corresponding letters only the heat works and i can hear a slight hum from the AHU outside. its a honeywell t-stat. i even tryed to check the wiring diagram on the unit outside and the colors dont match up. i tryed but i think they spliced different wire colors together. the house is about 25 years old.
i have included a pic of how the wiring looked when just a/c worked and then when the heat works. (is hum sound normal) ?

any ideas?
its starting to get cold and i just wanna make sure the heat works right.
any more info needed?

Thermostat wiring HELP

do you have a furnace or a heat pump?
whichever that may be... is this t-stat intended for a furnace or a heat pump?
last... what color wires do you have to work with (from in the wall)?

Thermostat wiring HELP

When wire colors change disconnect both ends then twist 2 together and check for continuity. Unhook those 2 and do the same with all the wires.

I had one a few years back that some joker spliced 3 times and changed colors at each splice.

Thermostat wiring HELP

W - call for heat - usually white
Y - call for A/C - usually yellow
G - call for fan - usually green
Rc - power for cooling
R or Rh - power for heat
O - heat pump brands other than Rheem & Ruud (cooling mode)
B - heat pump Rheem & Ruud brands (heat mode)

Can't tell if your Rc and R(Rh) terminals are jumped. Many are. It's to supply power to both heat and A/C. The incoming red wire is likely power supply. I would leave wiring as in first pic and jump Rc and R. If no jumper, move red wire from Rc and place on R(Rh).

Thermostat wiring HELP

UNIT outside

Side Skicker with model info

Inside access panel of unit.

Board with wires

OK well i hope these pics can help.
i tryed wiring as the diagram says and unit make a click click click sound.
sooooooo...... i also noticed no green wire is connected to the unit but green wire is at the T-stat.

when checking for continuity , if it reads 0.0 and doesnt bounce around then i guess its ok. what would be the next step once doing this.?

Thermostat wiring HELP

Outdoor wiring in pics looks correct.

If you want to try.
In your original 2 thermostat pics: In second one for heat,
Put R red wire back on jumpered Rc/R terminals
Put Y yellow wire back on Y terminal

Best guess: Put purple (wildcard) on O terminal (heatpump)

Thermostat wiring HELP

Anytime I have ever installed a honeywell tstat like this the blue wire needs to be on C, The yellow wire on Y, the white wire on W, the green wire on G, and the red wire on either R or Rc since they should be jumpered from the factory. Since it is not a heat pump, and if the installer wired the low voltage like any other technician would do...that should enable you to have a wire for common, main power, fan blower, compressor, and heat. That is all.
