I have a Honeywell VisionPro TH8000 series tstat that runs my heat pump with aux heat (electric strips). I have seen discussion of the cycles per hour (CPH) for the heat settings but within broader topics and so finding the best settings has been difficult for me to locate. I apologize if this has been answered over and over, but I am looking for the best setting for setup functions 240, 250, and 270 which are the first stage heat, second stage heat, and emergency heat CPH setting respectively.
Set all of them to 3. 4 for aux heat if you don't want the thermostat to satisfy the heat call with the aux heat when the heat pump can't handle the heat loss. I know that in the manual, it says to use 9 for emergency heat. 9 is too many cycles, and few people like their unit running for 4 minutes and then shutting off for 3 minutes before coming back on a gain. So use 3.
