Thermostat Screen is Blank

My Carrier thermostat screen is blank and the heat pump is not running. All circuit breakers are on. Just this morning, the thermostat was on. It's getting cold.

I guess it's possible that the kids hit it with a pillow or something, but it is still attached to the wall. How do I take it off? Can I diagnose this without calling an EXPENSIVE repairman?

Never mind, I fixed it. It seems the cover was just not on tight.

Thermostat Screen is Blank

It went blank again, for the third time. The previous times, I could open and close the door (not to the buttons, but to all the electronic parts) a few times and it went on. Not today. Is it just a loose connection?

Help! It's getting cold!

I "fixed" it. I opened and closed the door partially, the screen got a signal, I closed it all the way, and I have heat.

I am concerned that, next time, it won't be so easy.

Sometimes bending the pins ever so slightly , to get a better connection between stat and subbase works, but beware the pins are delicate.Your probably better off replacing tstat.

You have an air flow issue!!!! The screen goes blank when the main limit opens and shuts power off through the R circuit. When you open and close the door your effectively reset the system. This is an educated guess, but maybe next time the screen goes blank you should check for a diagnostic flash code before you open and close the door.

Hopefully not the front door... after all, it's cold out there!
