Thermostat is making me suicidal

Help!

This should be super simple but it's obviously not, neither customer service nor my favourite engineer can figure this out.

Currently I have Dimplex manual thermostats installed, these ones to be exact:

http://www.homedepot.ca/webapp/wcs/s...k=P_PartNumber

Each one is connected to two 750w electrical baseboard heaters.

I am trying to replace them with these Noma Digital thermostats:
http://angus.flyerland.ca/browse_all...1588-1663-2225

From the wall these are two wires, one red, one white.
From both thermostats there are two wires, both black.

I have tried connecting it both ways but it won't work. Please please please DIY gods help me before I try to whip a thermostat through the drywall.

SERIOUSLY, the only type of thermostat I recommend for anyone is the Honeywell types and not the cheaper models. You really do get what you pay for price wise with thermostats. Contractor grade are even better and have a 5 yr warranty but not available at Ctire or big box stores. Waste of time to buy cheap quality and priced tstats IMO and experience (you have been warned)
