Thermostat issue

I have a Carrier Infinity 96 HVAC system. This morning the thermostat was blank--no lights or anything.

I pulled the stat and checked for voltage and have no voltage.

I pulled the access panel on the blower unit. The LED is a constant amber. Troubleshooting guide says this means the control circuit is getting 24 volts.

Checked for voltage on the connector that leads up to the thermostat--no voltage.

Does this mean the control panel is bad or can some other error cause the control panel to cut power to the stat?

Thermostat issue

OK, now I feel silly--I found the problem! This unit has a condensate pump and the pump hung up. The reservoir filled up and shut the unit down. I jiggled loose the float in the pump chamber and it drained the reservoir--problem solved.

I had not realized that this would shut down the thermostat or I would have tried it first.

(I hate condensate pumps, by the way.)

They have their place.

The float hanging up, probably means its time to clean the condensate pump's tank.
