Thermostat

My Weathertron thermostat's red "emergency heat" light has been flashing at differfent times today. (I have a heat pump.) What does this mean? Should'nt the green "auxillary" light be on ?

it means you are heating only on your supplemental heat and the heat pum \p is not putting out heat.

Would help to know how cold it is where you are now. And how old your unit is with a model number if you have it.

If your auxilliary heat is kicking in, the AUX heat light should be lighting up but not the EMER light. However, your system may be wired in such a way that what you are describing is how it works. Has it always done this?

Lot of times the Eheat and aux heat are using the same wire jumped inside the tstat so when it goes into aux heat ie; too cold outdoors the light for eheat will come on.
