I live in FL with a tile roof. I do have gables but you have to really reinforce them for hurricanes. I have not figured out how to do a gable attic fan and make it look decent. I could build a metal cover in case of a hurricane.
I would like an attic roof fan.
I have the undereve soffit vents. I was trying to see if there are any undereve soffit fans. I have only found bathroom vent fans for soffits.
I realize that it is better to exhaust or suck the hot air from the highest point o fthe attic.
I am hesitant to cut into the tile roof and worry even a low profile attic fan might blow off in a hurricane. I feel like letting a solid tile roof sleeping dogs lie. Any suggestions?
And what good would it do to blow air into the attic with no way for the hot moist air to escape.
Stick with the gable vent fan idea.
Some are made with a thermostat that come on automaticly and have powered luvers that open up when the fan is running and stay closed when it not. A simple switch located near the attic stairs or even down stairs could shut it down when there's a storm so the vents stay closed.
