R22?

How long was the system running before taking these readings?

techpappy 08-02-2012 10:11 AM

Not an HVAC Tech but Im going to take a stab at ....5 minutes?

sarahWW 08-02-2012 10:31 AM

What does it mean?

See my guesses below

last try below

my last guess - I think its overcharged - is that 85 psi low and 400 psi high ? if r22, then I think that means freon overcharge.

scottmcd9999 08-02-2012 11:39 AM

If it's R22, and it's stabilized, then I'd think either:

1) If TXV, then perhaps dirty condenser, in which case AFTER cleaning the unit would likely be undercharged

2) If cap/orifice, then restriction somewhere on the liquid line or metering device, and overcharged a bit.

But we'd really need to know more about the system ...

Plugged condense coil, and low on charge.

To a complete novice, how would you describe those readings? Blue is low side, Red is high....and that's as much as I know.

I mean, is that a high reading on the low side? Because my system is doing that, or was, when the last tech came and said my system was overcharged/overcharging and took out some R410

The low side reading would be low for R410A.

I didn't check superheat or even for a target, just cleaned it, made sure it wasn't going to trip on high pressure again (original complaint, no cool/condenser found condenser not running on call for cool) and that the pressures resembled a normal charge, changed the double pole 45 amp breaker which fried on me when I first turned it back on or tried to turn back on anyways and that was it.

All four sides as I found it.

No refrigerant added or removed, just a cleaning.

Those Rheems take abuse. Unfortunately, their well made cabinet hides the dirt/blanket, so a lot of people don't realize how dirty the coil is.

Surprised it wasn't low on charge also.

My guess is PURPLE.
