If you want the best viewing area possible with an insert then I would go with the Quadrafire 7100 which is almost like the Northstar but takes a little bigger log and the door glass is bigger.

Yeah, but it won't fit in my fireplace - only 36" wide

The pic of my stove is when it was brand new at my last house
It had never had a fire in it at that point
It needs some touch up & cleaning but its a very nice stove
Puts out 55,000 btu

My grate heater is supposed to put out 60,000 btu
Somehow I don't think so
