Suddenly Heat Pump making rat-a-tat-tat noise

One of my heat pumps is suddently making an almost machine gun like sound. It was running normally, and then suddenly went into this noise. I have shut it off. Sounds like a muffler with a hole in it. Any one have any idea what this could be?

Before I call back my installers I just want some sort of feel as to what this might be so I will be more educated. I've had problems with my installers in the past and am therefore a bit fearful of them working on this unless I can speak with them about it knowledgeably.

Thanks,
Mike

Found it...it appears that the cowling was not secured properly, probably when these jokers installed the warranty reversing valve last winter, and now the fan is hitting that cowling.

Just left this posted in case this happens to someone else.
