Straps for securing gas line to joists - question.

I seem to remember something about not hanging copper with steel straps, but I'm strapping my 1" steel propane-to-furnace line underneath in the crawl space and was wondering if I should have anything between the steel straps and the pipe to prevent rusting? Or any other precautions I may not have thought of?

Thanks guys!

If it is humid in the crawlspace you may want to paint it with a coat of black (no other colors) grey outside,Tremclad rust paint B4 installing it. Steel pipe with steel straps okay, copper pipe we use perforated copper strapping to prevent galvanic reaction.

Steel strap? Is it plain steel, or gal steel?

plain steel pipe, dry crawl space.
I think I have plain steel strap out there in the shed somewheres.... it might be galvanized though?

If its thick steel strap. It won;'t rust through for 20 years. If its thin, could rust through in 5 to 7 years.
Galv won't rust.
