Steam Shower Ventilation

On the outside of the top panel of steam shower kit, is a small fan,
Is this a intake circulation fan? If it is for the purpose of ventilation.
Do I need to tie it into the flexible 4" duct in bathroom?
Do I vent it out the front of the shower, above,in the soft-it.
Thanks
