Steam Heat - Radiator Enclosure

I have one pipe steam heat and one of the radiators is in an enclosure. I do not want to remove the cover, but would like to let the heat out of the enclosure.

I am thinking about drilling some holes in the cover top. Has anyone done this?

Steam Heat - Radiator Enclosure

I have seen some before that had decorative stamped steel mesh type grilles cut into them to allow for venitalation. Mainly on the front panel so the the top was still useable to set things on.
