Source for line set insulation?

Does anyone know a source for just the insulation that goes around the line sets for mini-split systems? I have 1/4" and 3/8" lines that need insulation. The regular home improvement places only have insulation for 1/2" water pipes. The last time I went to a local trade supply house for anything like this, the prices were really high.

Thanks in advance.

An hvac supply is going to be your best bet and whatever the price is what it is. Do not wrap the lines together but individually if you are going to insulate them both and make certain they are insulated all the way to both units so that the insulation is pushed up tight against each piece of equipment and each section of insulation is taped and sealed to the next, no gaps. You do not want ambient temps reaching the lines or condensation dripping from them.

Btw, it's known as Armorflex.

What city do you live in?

Hopefully you didn't run the pipe yet, so much easier to insulate then run your pipes.

I found 6-foot sections of Armaflex sized to fit 3/8" line at an HVAC supply house in Durham, NC. They didn't carry anything for 1/4" line, but they said the 3/8" stuff would work for both lines. These are solid, not split, so they have to go on the lines before the flare nuts. But I won't have to do so much taping to get a good seal against condensation.

Thanks guys.

Hi alot of people really take for granted the importance of your freon lines being insulated. The freon helps keep your compressor to run cool plus the freon is actually the heat transfer product that removes heat out of your home. The insulation around the tubing ,or copper lines is another way to keep your capacity and effeciency up as well. The little things that does matter!
