I am having a new oil furnace installed next week. When the contractors removed the old furnace, I saw about a 2 inch layer of soot laying on the top of the coil. The chimney was cleaned less then a year by chimney sweeps. When I questioned the furnace installer about this; He said; chimney sweeps clean just the chimney pipe and not the furnace. One would think that cleaning the top of the coil and inbetween them would be part of the service. The chimney sweep attached a bag to the pipe to catch debris and then cleaned the pipe. Is there a solution to prevent soot from entering the furnace? Here is a picture of what I found.
being in Houston and not never having studied these oil burning furnaces, what would be considered a proper tune?
