son's room too hot

we have baseboard hot water (oil furnace)

thermostat is on the first floor (not zoned) - bedrooms are on the second floor

our room temp is fine but out son's room (right next to ours) gets too hot. I have a ceiling fan on but this does not help. in our room we have one baseboard....but....in his there are 3 baseboards. is there anyway to "shutdown" 2 of them (the end and middle basboard)?

I believe most baseboard heat has some type of louvers installed to dampen the output of the heat...

baseboard has louvers at top of slot, close em. It will cutdown a large amount of heat flow but it will NOT stop all of it. Only real way is to re pipe the system and split it into separate zones. That will be expensive.
Answer to the question you have not asked YET: NO you cannot put valves into the system to isolate those heaters, that will shut down the entire heat loop. BUT WAIT Yes here is next best solution; you can, shut down system, cut the tube and fin out of all the baseboard, run straight pc of pipe, reconnect the run, that is about all you can do without redoing entire system

thanks...the "louvers" solution worked. i closed 2 out of the 3 and he has not complained at all. very comforatable
