Sometimes my cenral AC run and sometimes not running

reread my last post as I added to it. not much I can do w/o being there but you should get a Pro. if the compressors burn out or get damaged then it is a $1500-2000 repair and most of the time better to get new units.

I am sorry the AC system on my house is no split system. I have only one 5 ton system using upstair and downstair. It used the Damper to split the air. I am sorry to confuse you. One thermostat used on upstair and one downstair. Both thermostats used the same 5 ton AC unit. I have used this system for 9 years since it was installed and the only fix for it is the new evaporator coil replaced last year in september.

OK then it could be both thermostats are short cycling but that is unlikely, sounds too me like the compressor itself is having starting problems due to low voltage, burnt contactor or the other reasons I gave you. a 5 ton compressor may run you $2-3000 so as much as this is a DIY site getting a Pro may be your best bet. if it is zoned then you may have a combo zoning panel the thermostats talk to and that could be short cycling. not much I can do w/o being there.

I think I should call the pro then. Thanks for the all info...

Good Luck. Get a good Pro as zoning systems are tricky and lots of guys don't understand them.
