Soft LockOut

Furance:

International Comfort products.
Model: T9mpt075f14c1

Symptoms:
Heats multiple times seems to stop heating at random and go into a soft lockout.

Troubleshoothing:
Replaced Flame sensor
Replaced MainBoard.

THoughts:
I have my step dad picking up a gas valvue.
Iv watched it try to cycle 3 or 4 times then go into a soft lockout.
One time we watched the system light and run and at one point the burners stop and it goes into a soft lock out.

Seems strange like it lost gas... thus the gas valve.

I've blown in all hoses and not seen any clogs or anything.
Board is replaced and worked good for 24 hours then starts to have the problem again at random.

My HVAC guy said to clean burners before replacing gas valvue. I also want to replace the Igniter as well.

This unit was built in 2008 and i dont think it was installed more than 6 years ago. Seems strange to be having these issues. From what i see it seems like its trying to start but no gas is being sent??? thus it trys 3 times then fails to sense flame or start so it goes into a soft lock out for 3 hours. In the past i could flip breaker and get it started right away but right now its not starting and i took a video of it.

Re: Soft LockOut

You need to check the incoming gas pressure before the gas valve with a manometer. The specs are on the model# sticker.

Go to You Tube and search: "test furnace gas pressure" and there are good vids

You also need to check if you are getting gas from the valve when the igniter is glowing. I hear a click which may be the gas valve trying to open. Check if you are getting 24 volts AC at the gas valve terminals. Looks like a 2 stage valve so you need to test it across the low fire and C terminals.

Re: Soft LockOut

I have a silly question:

Do other gas appliances work? if there are any other gas appliances?

The gas could be turned off at the meter from forgetting to pay the bill or accidentally at the furnace.

don't change the valve unless you know for sure it's bad. i actually would suggest leaving that sort of thing to a pro due to the risks.

if you do end up changing the valve yourself, you'll also have to check and possibly adjust manifold pressures.

Re: Soft LockOut

You haven't mentioned if you cleaned/changed the flame sensor.

Cheers!

Re: Soft LockOut

Never mind.... I finally got a chance to watch the video. Looks like the ignitor isn't getting hot enough. Replace the ignitor.

Cheers!
