Is there any way to remove smoker odors and/or animal odor from heating ducts? Thank you for any help.

Step 1
Put up no smokin signs for the animals in the ducts and if they still won't leave then try piping in elevator music. It'll even work on teenagers.

Cover up the ducts and don't use them anymore.
The odors will never leave.

I have seen air freshners that attach to your furnace filter....dont know if they work. Only remember thinking it was a good idea.

You could try using any of the oil based deorderizers .Put it either in the blower compartment or in a return air near the futrnace.
I remember my sister used to put pies and cakes next to a return air vent to cool them.It made the whole house smell great.

its expensive, but you can have the ducts cleaned and deodorized, and sanitized.

way back "in the day" I recall, in a fuzzy sort of way, that a single bounce fabric sheet put on the filter in the return would cover up and get rid of various "smokey" smells in my parents house. I recall a weekend where they went out of town.......... nuff said there!!!

I dont think it will remove the odor wholesale, but it does help. Be aware that be putting the sheet on the fiter, you will be robbing the return of some air. Just so you know...

Duct cleaning companies, have a sealer they can apply to lock any odors in that they can't get out.

I have rented an Ozone Machine to remove smoking odors in my apartment house. The local carpet cleaner had one for rent.

if nicotine coats the walls of them it is difficult to get rid of so Pro duct cleaners are needed. fire restoration companies who fix houses after fires may be able to help as they have to deal with smoke after effects. make sure you explain exactly what you want done so they don't just vacuum the dust and not sanitize them.
