Skuttle humidifier.. Or Sheesh! My Sinuses!

I really am trying to make this not such a long read but...

Anyhow

I have a older Forced air furnace with a older drum style Skuttle 45 attached to it. I bought the house from my parents and the whole HVAC system including humidifier was put in in 1989.

Here is the deal.. My Father and I have always kept this humidifier in perfect working shape and rebuilt it every year. I lived in the unfinished basement until my parents retired and I bought the house in 2003.. got married and blah blah blah....

Parents moved on to their dream farm and I Moved upstairs to a sinus Hell. Living downstairs in the damp basement I never really had much of a issue with my sinuses ever growing up.

Outside of the house I am fine at work.. outside in the yard but Come home and I am in hell. I have had the house checked for mold and it was found to have a insignificant amount. The House is just as dry as a bone.

The Skuttle only works when the furnace is on of course and it isn't able to keep the humidity level up when the heat is on.

Is there anything I can do with the existing humidifier
or do you have any suggestions on a humidifier that can work all the time to keep the humidity up?

Aprilaire 600A bypass humidifier connected to the hot water line.
or, an EWC Autoflow steam humidifier.

Energize your humidistat with G instead of W. That would be an easy temporary way to get your humidity up as long as you leave the fan running.

Thats a semi easy way.

A drum humidifier will have room air temp water in it at best. So very little moisture is evaporated with just the fan running. And in some cases. It will cool the house down quicker. Which cases less water to evaporate.
