Sidewall Grill Dilemma
I'm having a problem. Just purchased a 1958 home with 12 by 4 sidewall grills. I was able to find that size in order to replace the old and very damaged ones. However, there is about 1 1/2 inches of wall damage all around the rectangular hole that is NOT being covered by the new grill and I can't locate any grills with a wider trim. Any ideas at all???? Are there specialty grills out there...or does anyone know where I might get some trim? Or can these things be fabricated? We already painted before we realized about this issue and are trying to find another option to having the walls repaired. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Some of the larger sheet metal fabricators in your area should have the capability to make a louvered grill to whatever size and specifications you want. They should even paint it for you. Just make sure that whatever you put on will allow for proper air flow.
